Wikipedia defines preventive medicine as: measures taken to prevent diseases, rather than curing them. It can be contrasted not only with curative medicine, but also with public health methods.
Preventive medicine comes in three different levels. The first level is prevention which avoids the disease. This can be losing weight or eating healthier. The second level involves a health screening or early disease detection. The third is a reaction to any impact that already exists.
